TD Canada Trust Tax-Free Savings Account Application

Before You Begin

Upon account opening, a savings account named the High Interest TFSA Savings Account will be established within the plan. You have the option to invest in the High Interest TFSA Savings Account and a wide variety of TD Canada Trust GICs and Term Deposits. TFSA GIC and Term Deposit transactions will flow through the High Interest TFSA Savings Account.

Eligibility rules to open your TFSA online

You must be a Canadian resident and currently live in Canada
You must be the age of majority in your province of residence.
You must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN). A SIN beginning with 9 or 09 is not eligible
You must have EasyWeb Internet Banking
You must have an existing TD Canada Trust bank account

Information you will need on hand

  • TD Access Card number
  • Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Important Information

  • This online application provides for the designation of only your estate as the beneficiary of your TFSA and does not permit you to designate a successor holder of your TFSA. If you do not want to designate your estate as your beneficiary or wish to designate a successor holder for your TFSA, please visit any TD branch.
  • By applying for your TD Canada Trust TFSA online, you agree to receive all your disclosures and account-related documents electronically
  • Your application will be processed within 2-4 business days and a confirmation with your TFSA account number will be sent to you through the mail for your reference.
